Shrews swoop for Button

Shrewsbury Town manager Paul Simpson has snapped up Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper David Button on loan as cover for Chris Neal who broke his finger earlier this month.

The 20-year-old has made one substitute appearance for the Premier League side, in the Carling Cup victory at Doncaster Rovers three months ago.

He has also featured in more than 30 games during loan spells with Grays Athletic, Bournemouth, Dagenham & Redbridge and Crewe Alexandra in the last two seasons.

Speaking of his latest capture, Simpson said: "It's proved to be a really long and difficult week to get someone in but I'm delighted we've managed to get David Button to agree to come and join us.

"He's been involved with England at all the youth levels. In the ideal world you'd like an experienced keeper but no clubs are prepared to let them out."
